99% of startup advice on the internet will kill your startup, here’s why
1 - Most startup advice is written by spectators (i.e., academics, journalists, even VCs) of the startup sport, rather than the athletes (founders) of that sport,
2- Their definition of ‘success’ comes from their experience with big companies - either where they worked or the stock market. The problem with that is that it's looking at the finished product, not the steps that took to get to the finished product. This even applies to VCs who sit on startup boards, because they don't see 99% of the day to day
3 - Advice applicable to big companies rarely applies to startups. It in fact can steer the startup in the wrong direction, which will lead to a long slow death.
Instead, the best practice is to ONLY take startup building advice, from people who’ve built a successful startup.
